Pediatric Dentistry

Little kids have little mouths that require special attention and care. Fortunately, at Southwest Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics with Adult Dentistry, we have pediatric dentists who are specially certified in caring for your child’s oral health. They’ll work hard to make sure your child’s smile is both happy and healthy.

Early Dental Care

At our Littleton, CO dentist office, we believe that oral health and hygiene should begin at a young age. In fact, the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children should have their first dentist appointment when their first tooth appears or no later than his or her first birthday. By visiting the dentist from a young age, we can ensure that your child’s teeth properly develop. We can also help instill lifelong habits of taking care of their teeth and gums.

Preventative Care

One of the best ways to achieve optimal oral health is through prevention. Preventing cavities and tooth decay is relatively easy when you know how to take proper care of your teeth. Our dentists will help teach your children effective dental hygiene techniques, such as the correct way to brush and floss. Your child’s dentist will also make sure you are well-informed and knowledgeable of all your child’s dental procedures and oral issues.

Kid-Friendly Dentistry

Each of our pediatric dentists is specially trained in caring for children’s oral health. They also know how to put kids at ease during an appointment. We try to stay away from using traditional methods, like heavy sedation or restraints. Rather, we focus on the children by adding age-appropriate humor and fun into their dental appointment.

Comfort Dentistry for Kids

Laughing Gas: is a popular choice with both dentists and patients because it’s a safe and effective way help anxious kids. If requested and needed the doctor will deliver the laughing gas through a small mask that covers your child’s nose. Once the laughing gas is administered it produces a calming effect. When your child’s procedure is over, the certified dental assistant will flush the laughing gas out of your system using oxygen. Once this is completed your child will be able to return to his or her daily activities.

Special Needs

Dr Scott is an expert in treating kids with special needs, high anxiety, or sensory issues. His calm dementor, dental skills, weighted blankets, and essential oils help children feel comfortable before and durning procedures. Dr. Scott is usually able to provide in office treatment without sedation or outpatient care.

Outpatient care

We do everything in our power to make your child’s visit as comfortable as possible so they don’t need outpatient care. We have weighted Blankets, essential oils and laughing Gas To help your child feel comfortable. However, if your child requires deeper sedation we transfer them to Children’s Hospital, so they can have access to effective and safe sedation dentistry.
